Hw #4 pg 21, 22, 23

Title: Eliminating the Lighter Shades of Stereotyping
Author: Emmeline Chen
page: Short story pg 21
Summary: The story eliminating the lighter shades of stereotyping is about the chinamen that were protrayed as foolish, Christian converts blindly following a missionary though they possessed a yen to gamble. The point of this story is that if the play portraying African Americans as simpleminded fools with a gamblin streak as they did for the Asia, the people would have bring out a negative response. But no because the stereotype was for Asia and not African American nothing happened.

Personal Response: I think this sort of thing always happens. People sterreotype other people, and is really dumb.

Title: I looked Down on the Edges
Author: Benjamin Baker
Page: Pg 22
Summary: The story I looked down on the Eagles is about her little brother always being the brave one to do dangerous things like for example race down a side of the hill. However, this all changed when her brother wasn't brave to jump a ramp made of solid ice, it stood at least two feet tall at the bottom of the steepest part of the hill. Her brother didn't want to do so she was brave and she had jumped. Well she broke both of bones in her left arm, but she was proud of her self because she knew that she was no longer inferior.

Personal Response In my opinion I think is always good to be brave evethough sometimes it can cause consequences. However i could break armm but still be happy because I was able to do something I was never though I will.

Title: Diner Dandruf
Author: Robert Fulghum

Summary: This story talks about how as a child you have a really easy life. As u grow up and become a adult you have to do the list, clean the sink strainer, plunge out the toilet, wipe runny noses, clean up the floor when the baby throws strained spinach, clean ovens and grease traps and roasting pans, empty the kitty box and scrape up the dog doo etc.. many more stuff . It really hard to be a adult.

Personal Response: I think that it is really hard to be adult you have a lot of work to do and as a kid you have more fun.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
