1.What is a prodigy and why does the mother want the main character to become one?
Answer: Prodigy means a young person who exceptionally tallented. Mother wants her to become one so she could the best in anything, andnot to be like her.

2.How does the mother prepare her daughter for fame?
Answer: By taking her to a baeuty training school in mission distinct getting herselhf a new look or haircut.

Answer; The girl didn't have an talents.

4.Why does she start the piano lessons and how is the mother going to pay for them?
Answer: Her mother wanted her to be the best at something in order to suceed in life. She wanted her daughter to be a genius . She had to traded house cleaning seruce fora weekly lesson.

5.Describe the piano teacher
Answer: Mr Chiung the piano teacher was a very strange, always tapping his fingers to the silent music of an invisible archestra. He had a lot of the hair on top of his heqad and he wore thick glasses and had eyes that she will always looked tired and sleepy.
6.What do Auntie Lindo and Jing-Mei's mother have in common?
Answer: The both want their children to be famouse or suceed in life.

7.In your own words, relate the events of the recital.
Answer: Mei did really bad in her recital. She ddin't love playing the piano and didn't pay attention ti her lessons.

8.What does the author mean when she says, "I didn't have to do what my mother said anymore... This wasn't China"? page 97
Answer: She didn;t want her mother to utell her what to do anymore, she wasn't her mom slave and this wasn't China. In China you had to be a obedient daughter and follow their own mind.

Answer: The dissapointment in her face.

10.Why does Jing-mei come back to play the piano after her mother's death?
ANswer: She plays the piano after her mother's death because she feels bad about all the things that she told her mother. Now she wants to show her mom and it wasn't that bad.
